Ittica Bottaro is a famous fish shop in Syracuse, it is the oldest fish shop in Sicily, probably in the whole country. It is famous now, it hasn't changed the way of working in ages, it reminds me of older times when fishermen were getting fish on small boats and they were selling it fresh in the shop, no commercial fishing, not so much plastic involved. They will still wrap up your fish in old newspapers, I just love it. This scene was taken not long ago, a few years back when I went to Italy to visit my family.
There is something romantic about this place, old, smelly, genuine, original and pure.
Fish has been feeding Humanity since the Beginning.
Places like this one should be world heritage, there is no need to wipe the ocean from all its creatures, we can support ourselves by consciously fishing, there is no need to be greedy with Nature.
This place reminds me of that, simpler time, take what you need, leave the rest.
The work is not framed, but ready to hang.
